Shane
Speal
11:45 - 12:30
Speal's
music runs the gamut; from old blues to trash rock
and out into the stratosphere of avant garde. His
newest album, "Shane Speal" has touches
of White Stripes, Pops Staples and old school punk.
There's even an instrumental, "Tunnel Rat,"
that has been described as Joe Satriani on moonshine!
The
concept behind Indian Summer Jars is that of preserving
a moment/an energy/an emotion. The Indian Summer
reminds us of past events, and pleasant surprises,
warm weather, and new beginnings. As a band, Indian
Summer Jars captures and stores some of these warm
"feel good" moments so that they may be
revisited and shared with others. Sarah Beth and
The Real Sarah King met at an open mic at Appalachian
Brewing Company (Harrisburg, PA) in 2005. Both Sarahs
were performing solo acts at the time, but hit it
off well and began to share gigs. After a while,
it just made sense for the two to combine talents,
thus creating Indian Summer Jars. The album "Similar"
was recorded in one week's time in May of 2008.
Indian Summer Jars plan to record a new album in
the spring of 2010.
A
native Pennsylvanian, Peters grew up in a small
suburban town on the outskirts of York. He spent
time listening to his parents’ records,
which included the sounds of Bruce Springsteen,
James Taylor, and Fleetwood Mac. During his high
school years the influences of Live Radiohead,
Sting and the Police, and U2 began to take root.
While he attended East Stroudsburg University,
this self-taught musician began to develop his
own unique style. This is clearly evident in his
recent recording of The Game. Following graduation,
Peters moved to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. The
tropical paradise inspired to further explore
his musical development. He performed at various
venues including, Hard Rock Café and Sunset
on the Beach, whose alumni consist of Elliot Smith
and Jack Johnson. Later, Peters decided to push
his musical boundaries and moved to Nashville,
TN, where he finished his solo ep entitled Uprooted.
He now resides in Annapolis, MD where he continues
to write songs and move audiences.
Sarah’s
approach to music is that of an artist inspired
by each passing nuance and minute detail. She
admits, “Life is too complex to even begin
to understand, so I make sense of life through
song.” She now writes almost daily, finding
a place for her unique voice in a variety of different
Sarah Blacker styles. “I always believe
the songs that are meant to stick around will
stay, and some will fall by the wayside,”
Sarah explains, “Some songs might find their
life-span to be but a sketch, and others may disappear
for a while, and then resurface. But some just
write themselves in a few minutes, and stick hard.
Some just want to stick around.”
Rhyne McCormick is a singer/songwriter from rural
Pennsylvania. His self-produced third release
(featured here) is entitled “Soul Dust”.
If you like what you hear, you should down load
his music and come to one of his shows. After
the show, you should invite him to back to your
house. He’ll sing in your kitchen and hang
with you and your friends. Then, he’ll crash
on your couch and in the morning, when you leave
for work, he’ll pretend to be sleeping.
Once you’re gone, he’ll get up and
try on all your clothes, do his laundry, eat your
ice cream and download your music to his Ipod
(and you will love him for it).
Olds
Sleeper derives his lo-fi sound utilizing banjo,
guitar, mandolin, cigar box three string guitars,
harmonica, dobro and found objects. His recordings
are extremely varied, from full on distorted off-kilter
rock to whispered introspections with acoustic
guitar and harmonica. All are done with a vocal
that is earnest and uniquely Olds.
Olds
Sleeper was raised in the rural areas of Pennyslvania,
heavily affected by the stretches of woods, cornfields
and hidden streams he used to explore as a boy.
Olds strives to create a blend of folk, old time,
rockabilly and country-inspired tunes, but with
an aesthetic that often reverberate with loud
drums that drive the sound towards a concoction
he describes as "fuct". Reverb is a
favorite sound effect as Olds strives to capture
the 'transcendent mumblings he hears in his head".
Steven
Courtney and His Band of Friends
5:00 - 6:15
The
Steven Courtney Band of Friends is finding new
audiences everyday. Everywhere the band travels,
people of all ages sing, clap and dance to the
band's infectious music! Performing concerts in
"state of the art" auditoriums, local
pubs, acoustic venues, run-down school gymnasiums,
old-time churches, summer festivals and more --
this band always wins their audience. Steven Courtney
Band of Friends has refined a sophisticated down
home style all their own that’s being celebrated
enthusiastically by fans and media everywhere
they go.
Wayne
Supergenius writes the old fashioned kind of song.
The big hook, the unforgettable melody, the crafted
solo that many who have been sucked into the dreary
world of the image conscious have missed. Or to
quote Peter Bothum of Rockpile magazine: "With
such a true-blue batch of solid rock songs, timing
is irrelevant."
York
Pennsylvania native, Adrian Dylan Chandler, is
releasing his first full length album which showcases
his songwriting talents with songs of riddled
relationships leading from love to angst and everywhere
in between.
Slimfit
writes songs about all the news that's fit to
sing about. Nieces, for example. Or, say, the
greatest sandwich ever made. Our forthcoming album,
The Path, is full of all that cool stuff that
makes cool stuff such cool stuff.
