Lost Companion

With earnestness and conviction, Lost Companion blends folk, blues, country, and bluegrass, creating his own version of Americana.

Lost Companion was formed in 2011 as a solo project by singer/songwriter Joe Gualtier, co-founder of the Folk/Americana group West of the Shore. Moving forward as a solo project, Lost Companion leans on early blues and roots music for inspiration, and brings along the raw dirt and grime that comes with it. Taking past experiences from the road, Lost Companion paints a picture of America that is both heartfelt and lonesome, filled with the joys and troubles we can all understand.

Darry Miller and the Veil

From an early age, Darry Miller's life has been filled with music. His mom took him to his dad's gigs as a baby and when he got his first drum set at three, he showed an intuitive ability to play. It wasn't long before he was sitting in with his dad's band, cutting his teeth on rock and roll. As he got older, he began playing around with his dad's digital recording equipment and spent his formative years alone in the basement with it, experimenting with the layering of sounds, tones, harmonies and beats, igniting a true passion for music and an understanding of how powerful it can be. The solitude Darry found in his basement while recording those first songs lent an intimacy to his lyrics that he carries through to his songs today. Trying to understand life, love, loss and ambitions are a constant theme and are easily related to by his growing fan base. That fan base started when he passed some demos around to his friends at school and continues to expand as more people are turned on to his unique combination of pop, funk, blues and Americana. In 2009, Darry signed with the independent label Ripple Creative Records and now tours with three very talented band members.

Jake Hill

Jake Hill is a singer/songwriter from Plymouth, Massachusetts, from across the country, and from down the street. He has miles on his voice, blisters on his fingers, and stories to tell. Though born and raised in America’s Hometown, it was the American Southwest where he found himself. Then he came home.

Jake has released four full-length LP’s and a handful of EP’s, and has performed from Boston to Austin in front of audiences as intimate as a couple of bottle-throwing drunks and as rowdy as thousands of fancy people doing fancy things.

Dani hoy

"One day, someone took a chance on me and everything changed. I played over a weekend at an event called Spring Phling, in Wildwood, New Jersey, and someone asked me if I had a CD. Then some other folks asked me that question. Before I knew it, I was writing more songs and seriously contemplating a CD. That weekend was an incredible amount of fun, with meeting musicians and performing. If you don't grab an opportunity you may just miss out on something wonderful. I suddenly found myself doing and saying unexpected things. The adventure has begun."

THE SKETTIES

Born in a Lancaster County barn, this interdimensional, time-traveling, shape-shifting, genre-bending musical trio have been impacting the melodic landscape of the east coast since 2007. The music of The Sketties is not entirely unlike a hair dryer whispering sweet and gentle melodies in your ear, lulling you into a dream-like state, before dropping into the tub and electrocuting your soul. Thematically running the gamut of human emotionalism from one song to the next, the lyrical content is, at times, sardonic, aggressive, and paranoid, while at other times uplifting, optimistic and hopeful. The Sketties will sweep you off your feet and absentmindedly drop you back into reality.

Shadowplay

In 2006, two middle school youths started a rock band. Unlike so many others the thought of becoming rock stars was not just a dream. For lead singer Andrew Corkery and lead guitarist Dan Holden becoming rock stars was not a choice, but a destiny they wished to embark on. From that standpoint, there were no other options but to seek out other members and build a band. The product of that search is now the band known as Shadowplay. Due to age and varying degrees of training and musicianship, struggles occurred the first few years. However, they took their criticism constructively and used it to better themselves and their art. They welcomed guitarist George Legatos in 2007, bassist John Sellers in 2008 and drummer Tim Bear in 2009. In just two years their musical progression was obvious.

Jerry Duncan

Starting at the age of 15, Jerry began his lifelong love of playing and writing music. Through his 20’s, he traveled with various regional bands while continuing to write and record original music. At age 30, he opened a guitar shop specializing in used and vintage guitars and amps, as well as a recording studio for local talent. After a 15-year break, Jerry began to manage young “up and coming” singers from the area and as a result began writing material for them to record. This also pulled him back out on the road playing fairs and show dates from New York to Nashville, with most points in between. Still playing, writing and recording with his band “The 8th Ave. Deacons”, Jerry has shared the stage with many national artists and may be coming to a venue near you.

Special Guests

The Boston-based band, Special Guests, has released their first CD on Canned Peaches Records. The CD has been 2 years in the making and features superb vocal performances by Zoe Alpert, Craig Carter, and Suzanne McNeil (check out her ReverbNation page). The project began when songwriter Al Pechulis met Zoe and Rick Alpert, while performing at the Frank Withey Memorial Scholarship Foundation concerts near Boston. Zoe particularly liked Al’s original songs, and after Al gave her a CD of original material, the trio met on a winter’s night in 2009 and knew this would be something special.

Heather Pierson

Heather Pierson was born on the edge of the American West and was raised on the music of the South - blues, jazz, soul - music that is at once both celebratory and melancholy. To define her by these origins, however, is to miss the point - she is a prolific performer, composer and songwriter in nearly every genre of music. Her wildly and beautifully varied live performances and her growing catalog of releases reflect this boundless creativity. New Orleans jazz, Delta blues, poignant and narrative story-songs, Native American chants, New Age instrumental piano, folk-pop, a capella vocal renderings, ethereal and synthesized soundscapes: all are well within the capable grasp of this unique and inspiring performer. Her latest CD release, Make It Mine, is a collection of 16 songs recorded in rural Maine and mastered by Grammy-award winning Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering. The album explores the universal themes of love, loss, hope and perseverance in a manner reminiscent of such songwriters as Joni Mitchell and Paula Cole.

Loretta Bilieux

Songs of backtalking poison ivy, vengeful reincarnation, exhilarating sled rides, being bulletproof, uncensored joints, refusing your wings, not so friendly friends, staring down a fox, skating on black ice, and just being one of the boys are rendered spot on by her crackerjack band and razor-sharp voice.

Kiley Evans

Kiley Evans is a Boston girl with a Nashville soul. Growing up in a creative family, she was exposed to music from an early age. "I remember lying in bed as a child waiting for my dad to crack my door open, with his guitar in his hands. He'd sing and play until my sister and I fell asleep. My infatuation with music is rooted in those bedtime sessions." - says Kiley. But It wasn't until she was a teenager that country music entered her life. Artists like Reba McIntyre, Miranda Lambert and Sugarland would eventually inspire Kiley to try her own hand at writing songs.

Rebekah Jean

It's rural northeast Ohio, the smell of pinto beans fills an Appalachian woman's kitchen, and her doe-eyed daughter is enthralled by the sounds of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Willie Nelson.

Rebekah Jean grew up with a handful of conflicting influences. Roots planted deep in the hills of West Virginia coal country, raised close enough to her father's Cleveland to hear the screams of rock-n-roll. Rebekah's original music effortlessly reveals this juxtaposition, with songwriting that carries on the tradition of honest clarity and heartfelt sincerity both rock-n-roll and early country first presented. Her lyrics draw you in, but it's her voice that will get your attention. Rebekah is at once both sharp as a razor and haunting as a foggy mountainside, grabbing the listener and music professional alike.

Cold Springs Road

The music of Cold Springs Road won’t be hurried. It comes to you unambiguously and offers itself just as it is. Likewise, you accept it just as you are. And like good folk music the listener takes it and makes it his own.

The songwriting of guitarist/vocalist Brian Hurst suggests that he, and his wife Ranita, (vocals, mandolin, fiddle) have seen the grass on the other side and realize the need to, as Whitman said, “bequeath [themselves] to the dirt to grow from the grass [they] love.

Karen Choi

I was born and raised in the Midwest. I call Lincoln, Nebraska home. Since I was very young, I have been writing lyrics and pairing them with melodies. Verse is my preferred language, my native tongue. When I was fifteen or so, I picked up my Dad’s old ’73 Martin and began giving my meandering melodies a musical home. Thus, the songwriter in me was born. I remain mystified by the songwriting process and feel a deep sense of privilege that I am able to participate in such a craft.

A few years ago, I moved slightly southwest of my Nebraskan home to St. Louis, Missouri where I now live with my husband and two young boys. I traded in my Dad’s Martin for a Gibson, the cornfields of Nebraska for the winding rivers of St. Louis. In this hazy city I continue to learn what it means to take the raw materials of the created world and give them musical form. I will forever be a lover of the lyric and a student of the song. www.facebook.com/karenchoimusic or www.reverbnation.com/karenchoi

Johnny Mainstream

One quality which seems to separate the great artists from the mainstream is their ability to succinctly tell us what we already know. That is to say, they can tell us how we feel. Listening to a Johnny Mainstream record is the equivalent of suddenly being privy to a great secret; suddenly, you have words to explain your own emotions and angst. And suddenly, you don't feel as alone anymore.

Johnny Mainstream is a five-piece Americana act out of Manchester, CT. Born in the Marist College dormitories of songwriter Matthew Maynes and bassist Dan Garaffa, Johnny Mainstream began writing honest folk songs inspired by Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, and Kevin Devine, but infused with the punk rock ideals on which each was raised.

Jessica Smucker

Jessica Smucker writes what could be considered "dark pop" songs: catchy melodies in minor keys, lyrics that masterfully infuse sad stories with tiny flecks of humor and hope. She performs in diverse configurations and contexts, but her songs have a consistent melodic edge. "Woven with a sort of defiant sadness, a square-jawed resilience" (Fly Magazine), her compositions often start down a familiar road but, through a series of subtle twists and curves, deliver the listener to an unexpected destination.

Dana Alexandra

My name is Dana. my hometown still doesn't have a stoplight and I truly hope it stays that way. I'm a born singer and a not so born guitarist. Oh well. I love to collect mugs. I knit scarves. I'm very forgetful when it comes to people. please don't take offense. just realize I'm a dodo when it comes to that and it will probably take me 10 times to finally get it right. I love the peace and quiet falling asleep to crickets and peepers on a summer's eve. I also love being close enough to big cities to soak up as much culture as I can under those brilliant city lights! I love skylines. I really love trees. I'm a summer girl but I love every season too. I love being outside even though I'm a girly girl...being both is possible! I love my family and friends although right now a lot of them are too far away from me. I love eating healthy foods but I have a sweet tooth and snowballs from Summer's snowball stand. I set goals for myself and keep everything I love as close to me as I can. I've lived in a beachtown, huuuuge city and small town. I used to wear my heart on my sleeve and I think my music reflects that. But not so much anymore because I've lived some more and I've learned some more...and I know it's for the best. I truly believe that "love is all you need" and I live my life by that.

and danceable beat. Exploding on the Baltimore music scene in 2002, it soon developed
a loyal local fan base and then shook the underground festival scene from coast to coast.

Katarina Boudreaux

Louisiana via Texas to Connecticut singer, pianist, songwriter – my music speaks (yells, cries, roars, laughs) where life becomes silent. After receiving a BA in Music and a BA in English from TCU, I moved to Connecticut to write and experience four seasons. I’m thinking I preferred two, but new experiences allow me to continue to write original music and poetry, perform, and create whatever I can wherever I can. I currently play with a great lineup – piano and vocals contributed by me, sax, upright bass, and drums rounding out the sound. My new album - Mistral - was recorded in North Carolina with the fabulous producer Karen Kane and I'm rather pleased with it.

James Casto

JIn 2002, James Casto took a leap of faith, left Corporate America and began aggressively pursuing songwriting. It's easy to hear the influences in the music of James Casto. Traces of Billy Joel, Phil Vassar, Kenny Loggins , Bruce Hornsby, and Michael McDonald all weave their way into his songs. Casto started his musical career as a drummer doing session work and live performances in Atlanta, GA. His deepest passion, however, was songwriting. The story of James Casto is about taking a chance, a leap of faith to pursue a passion. Casto sums up his new life and the lessons he learned in his popular song "Two Inches Deep"...Today I'm taking back my life, letting go of things I cannot keep, 'cause today I looked up and realized I've been drowning in water two inches deep.

The Cultivators

It's a sound that recalls an age when folk music was still sung by honest laborers and their salt-of-the-earth families. From the doleful laments of tragic heroes to the foot-stompin' hootenannies of town-wide celebrations, The Cultivators pull from America's roots to craft simple songs for complicated times.

Cultivated from the roots-music scene of southeastern Pennsylvania's Lancaster and Berks counties, The Cultivators draw upon a litany of musical influences to craft their own honest and heartfelt version of Americana music. They are a down-to-earth band with a passion for authentic country and folk music. The songs they connect with on a deeply personal level often
illustrate the joy and success and the pain and struggle of everyday life through stories of love, murder, self-reliance, attrition, salvation, social responsibility and, yes, even drinking.

Camela Widad Kraemer

“Camela Widad Kraemer (pronounced “KAM *ell*laa” “WIH*dod” “KRAY*mer”), has battled some demons. Not the demons of drugs, abuse or self-loathing. Along her travels through musicianship she has had to determine whether to conform to the prosaic formula of the singer-songwriter or prominently display the middle finger of the washed-up “good-ol-days” rocker. Thankfully, she has chosen neither. Instead, she mixes the melancholy mystery of life’s endless questions with the joy and simple pleasure of answers when they are found. Her music allows the listener to experience a space in time where one gives up trying to uncover and live within the secret of happiness and embraces their sublime slice of singularity. Beware, demons of peace dwell there!” Colby Miller – PSU-Dickinson Law Student

Miss Tess

Miss Tess is Brooklyn-based performing songwriter and bandleader. She currently tours with a tight-nit quartet complete with sax/clarinet, upright bass, drums, and herself on guitar and vocals. Similar to artists such at Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Madeleine Peyroux, or Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, Miss Tess draws inspiration from older styles of music, and uses those sounds in the service of her own personality.

Mike McMonagle

At an age when most kids start playing with matches, Mike McMonagle was, well, also playing with matches. Luckily, the day came when matches lost their luster and he picked up a guitar. It was a Saturday, presumably, and the Pennsylvania sky was blue and cloudless, probably. The first chord he ever strummed was an E minor; to this day, Mike still plays that chord, along with others, to formulate an array of folk- and blues-inspired ditties about trains, wine and Virginia. Listening to Mike perform is like watching a bright sunrise on a crisp, dewy morning after a night of heavy drinking.

GROOVE JONES

Founded by bassist Rod Goelz, Groove Jones has been inciting audiences into funk-frenzied,undulating agglomerations since 2006. From the beginning, Rod's goal was a simple one: apply the old-school funk esthetics and influences to fit contemporary currents. For Rod, this involved re-vamping approaches to performance—no sequencers, no drum machines. Groove Jones would be real-time; real-deal. Fun was to be key.

Groove Jones' 2011 8-piece ace-assemblage features some of central Pennsylvania's finest R&B/funk musicians: Lea Jolan (vocals); Joe McDowell (vocals, keyboard, vocoder, trumpet); Ralph Real (vocals, keyboard); Rod Goelz (4- and 5-string basses, background vocals); Drew Stepp (rhythm guitars, background vocals); Anthony Aguirre (drums, vocals); Wes Burke (saxophones), and AJ Myers (Trumpet).

Like Wild

The musical endeavor of an honest young man, Like Wild is the solo undertaking of Lancaster County's own Patrick Hatt. Like Wild's finely honed and uniquely folksy-Americana style channels his own down to earth and personable nature and infuses it in songs written about the extraordinary parts of the everyday: love, optimism, and the ultimate importance of being true to yourself. Like Wild's self-titled debut was released June 15th, 2010. The four song EP is a loosely compacted nugget of the stuff that makes Like Wild so easy to listen to - simple, genuine songs about the relatable problems and feelings everyone experiences. The EP was produced and engineered by friend Kurt DeMarra and mastered by Carl Saff, and is available through iTunes, Amazon, and other digital retailers. Be sure to catch Like Wild live in the upcoming months in support of his brand new release.

Indian Summer Jars

The concept behind Indian Summer Jars is that of preserving a moment/an energy/an emotion. The Indian Summer reminds us of past events, and pleasant surprises, warm weather, and new beginnings. As a band, Indian Summer Jars captures and stores some of these warm "feel good" moments so that they may be revisited and shared with others. Sarah Beth and The Real Sarah King met at an open mic at Appalachian Brewing Company (Harrisburg, PA) in 2005. Both Sarahs were performing solo acts at the time, but hit it off well and began to share gigs. After a while, it just made sense for the two to combine talents, thus creating Indian Summer Jars. The album "Similar" was recorded in one week's time in May of 2008. Indian Summer Jars plan to record a new album in the spring of 2010.

Sarah Blacker

Sarah’s approach to music is that of an artist inspired by each passing nuance and minute detail. She admits, “Life is too complex to even begin to understand, so I make sense of life through song.” She now writes almost daily, finding a place for her unique voice in a variety of different Sarah Blacker styles. “I always believe the songs that are meant to stick around will stay, and some will fall by the wayside,” Sarah explains, “Some songs might find their life-span to be but a sketch, and others may disappear for a while, and then resurface. But some just write themselves in a few minutes, and stick hard. Some just want to stick around.”

The Jane

AS REVIEWED BY PAIGE MCINTYRE (CATS EYE PUB)
These guys are another one of our favorite new bands who are making news. Totally by chance I was awake at 7am on 12/24 and happened to turn on the tv set on channel 45. Lo and behold there are the boys being intro'd to play a couple of songs. They truly rocked the news studio, starting out with an excellent keying of the "Charlie Brown" theme song then rolled into, (to my absolute delight and admiration), The Ramones' "I Don't Want to Fight Tonight".

The Slackwater News is a musical group from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We spend lots of time together crafting creative, meaningful, and tight arrangements that serve the motive of our songs. Max Hess Ft. Dana Alexandra
"Decanter" is a song that has been kicking around in Max Hess's head for quite some time. It started as a short, bouncy, British-Invasion-styled piano piece that he had composed and would find himself practicing daily. About a year later, the tune finally found its place in the studio. Max fleshed out the chorus and post-chorus parts on the spot, as well as composing and recording the bass and guitar parts in a matter of hours. Longtime friend and bandmate Blain Herman provided percussion for the track, and the instrumental elements of "Decanter" were born. It wouldn't be until another month later that Max enlisted the help of friend and local singer/songwriter Dana Alexandra to sing his lyrics; the story of a girl who, stood up on a night that should have been like a dream, finds solace in the bottom of a wineglass.

Max Hess is a primarily self-taught musician from York, Pennsylvania. Acquiring most of his performing and songwriting experience as guitarist in various rock and pop-punk bands over the course of his late teens and early twenties, Max discovered not only a latent talent for playing piano at the age of twenty-one, but also a broadening fondness for the older, more melodic and thoughtful music of generations past.

John Craigie

Before open mics, before showcase slots, and before the hype, there was the traveling folk singer. Woody Guthrie, Ramblin Jack, Leadbelly, and others traveled the country armed with nothing but a guitar and a head full of songs. And while the tradition has long been shadowed by the ever growing music industry, the folk singer is still out there. John Craigie is one. Doing his best to keep the tradition alive, he travels from town to town, telling stories and singing songs. Some nights to a crowded house, some nights for two people. His songs and stories cover the spectrum of human emotion. Some funny, some sad, some bitter and some sweet. With his roots style, Craigie has been gaining a cult following throughout the country. Despite the lack of any of the tools of the modern aggressively popular musician, his music continues to spread.

One String Willie

Most folks know me as David Williams, mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet (okay, mild-mannered research scientist), living in the rural northernmost suburbs of Philadelphia with my wife and two daughters.

I have been playing guitar since 1964, and bottleneck slide since 1976. My early musical interests were rock (and roll), jug bands, string bands, ragtime, hokum and blues, bottleneck slide guitar and harmonica blues. Recognizing that an intemperate interest in these musical styles could potentially lead to eternal perdition, my musical interests have expanded to include American religious music from the 19th and early 20th centuries as well as gypsy jazz, classical music, and opera. Most of the people I enjoy listening to are either now dead or not feeling very well.

Robert Bobby

Reviews came in from Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Musician Magazine, Boston Phoenix, Philadelphia Inquirer, LA Herald Examiner & others. Naturally, The Speedboys didn't have a clue about the business part of the music business & soon broke up. Our hero, now named Robert Bobby, released a solo album called "Chilly Wind" and a 3rd release under the Speedboys name called "Positively James Street".

After wandering in the desert (no wait, that was someone else) some years passed and here we are in the year 2003 and as if times aren't scary enough, Robert Bobby has resurfaced with his new cd (they aren't albums anymore) F*U*B*A*R. F*U*B*A*R is more acoustically oriented than the prior albums but the same elements are there: catchy songs & heartfelt performances.

The Vulcans

The Vulcans are a three-piece Americana/Folk-rock band from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Disheartened by the overly produced and formulaic music, band members Nick Lindsay, Aaron Spangler, and John Thomas are in search of a more understated and traditional style of music, emphasizing unique harmonies, sincere lyrics, and tight musicality. With instruments ranging from banjo, to mandolin, to melodica, The Vulcans seek to remind their audience of a time and place they once knew. It's time to come home.

Turning Violet Violet

I am immediately drawn in...Think Incredible String Band and The Roches with a dash of Laura Viers thrown in.I get to chat with Sarah Gulish who founded the band with her husband Brandon ....”"Our influences come from a lot of different places.Sarah Pisano who plays viola in the band was only playing classical music before she joined us”.The quintet is rounded out by bassist Steve Wittig and Jeff Scott. The creative process is a total collaborative effort at this point...The band has been rehearsing heavily in preparation for the upcoming shows.”We love to be together. We eat dinner and then practice for hours. We love to play together.”This certainly bodes well for a young band.My last question is about the name.”My husband loves Willy Wonka.”Oh,of course, the always gum chewing Violet Beauregard who turns purple after chewing the purple gumball.I should have known. It makes sense." Dann Ottemiller - Hexbelt

Ottemiller's stream-of-consciousness lyrics, delivered in a husky drawl and loping, lusty rap, come straight from the soul. The biting philosophical, psychological, political, social and sexual commentary of his songs comes across in cryptically coded messages allowing the listener multiple interpretations. His unique rhythmic approach on guitar fattens up and battens down the band's full sound as well.

Billy Rogan

Billy Rogan is a well-versed guitarist know mostly for his instrumental acoustic work, whose influences include the styles and techniques of artists such as Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Keller Williams and Kaki King. His original compositions reflect a unique combination of classical and modern fingerstlye with hints of new age sounds that blend forms with these intricate details of inspiration. Rogan's skilled touch brings stories to the strings in wordless tales of heartfelt bits and pieces, shifting rhythms and tempos - all with a soulful, fiery feel.

In 2008/2009, Rogan was awarded the opportunity to study with Tim Reynolds of the Dave Matthews Band, was selected Top Twenty out of three-thousand applicants for the Mass Transit Authority (MTA) of New York/New Jersey's - Music Under New York (MUNY) rostered musicians for his unique talent, as well as voted "Best One Man Musical Act" by The Abington Journal - a local publication in Rogan's home town of Clarks Summit, PA.

Adam Arcuragi & The Lupine Chorale Society

One of today's fastest-rising Indie-folk/alt-country troubadours, Adam Arcuragi, has been reeling in addicted fans on both sides of the Atlantic lately, with the music that he calls "Death Gospel". Born in Georgia and raised in Philly, Arcuragi [pronounced ärk; er; a; jee], is a guitar-slinging southern boy who can tell you a thing or two about a thing or two… especially when it’s in the form of a song.

The Vinegar Creek Constituency

The Vinegar Creek Constituency channels the venerable old ghosts of the American folk tradition through inventive, imaginative original songs delivered with Rock and Roll intensity. Like their forerunners in the roots music of Appalachia, the Mississippi Delta, the whaling towns of New England, and the Oklahoma dustbowl, their songs call out from the crossroads of light and darkness. They are dreams of Heaven alongside visions of Hell; songs in praise of love alongside tales of murder and the madness of lovers betrayed; songs that ride the rails, wander the countryside, rise from the grave, and sit center stage at the apocalypse. Vinegar Creek Constituency offers their new songs to the musical continuum to join their voices with the echoes of those who sang before them.

Michael James Anderson

After listening to the opening track of "Wake Up For The Shake Down," you might get the impression that Michael James Anderson is trying NOT to be heard. The album, MJA's first as a solo artist, contains twelve tracks full of whisper sung vocals and stories of alcohol fueled nights followed by mornings of repent. Overall, seeds of hope are planted throughout the mix. For the past eleven years, Connecticut's "Flu" has been the main musical outlet for MJA, being one of it's founders in 1998. With numerous tours under his belt and 3 full length records with Flu, (2003's "Remedy," 2005's "Amalgamation," and 2009's "For Love and Brother), Michael is currently working on his second full length solo record titled "Restless Sea", scheduled for a summer 2010 release.

Olds Sleeper

Olds Sleeper derives his lo-fi sound utilizing banjo, guitar, mandolin, cigar box three string guitars, harmonica, dobro and found objects. His recordings are extremely varied, from full on distorted off-kilter rock to whispered introspections with acoustic guitar and harmonica. All are done with a vocal that is earnest and uniquely Olds.

Olds Sleeper was raised in the rural areas of Pennyslvania, heavily affected by the stretches of woods, cornfields and hidden streams he used to explore as a boy. Olds strives to create a blend of folk, old time, rockabilly and country-inspired tunes, but with an aesthetic that often reverberate with loud drums that drive the sound towards a concoction he describes as "fuct". Reverb is a favorite sound effect as Olds strives to capture the 'transcendent mumblings he hears in his head".

Darcie Miner

Darcie Miner probably started singing as soon as she could talk. Thanks to her dad, she gained a very early knowledge and appreciation of the history of rock and roll while being exposed to a diverse range of musical styles – classic rock, R&B and even metal. Darcie started playing guitar at age 11 and made her first rather inauspicious debut performance at 13. In her own words, "I was so bad then." It didn't take long to develop an emerging talent, however.

The Mumlers

"Perhaps the Mumlers were channeling the spirit of William Mumler, a mid-19th-century man famous for claiming he could photograph ghosts, but once all [six] band members touched their fingers to a Ouija board's planchette, the board, they claim, spelled out their group's name. Regardless, it's clear their swaggered ruckus pop channels dead folk musicians galore. Despite the ghostly origins of their handle, the Mumlers' live appearances tend to turn into lively celebrations, with the outfit dancing about the stage. Their repertoire of instruments rivals any philharmonic's and includes guitars, drums, upright bass, various keyboards, euphonium, French horn, trumpet, clarinet, tambourine, pedal steel, and recently, eagle whistles from Mexico." -Alex Felsinger, San Francisco Bay Guardian

Jud Conway

Independent recording artist Jud Conway fashions a freewheeling blend of rock 'n' roll, classic country, folk, and blues steeped in the tradition of troubadours like Neil Young and Gram Parsons.

Jud’s debut release, SOUTHERN BOUND, includes thirteen original songs that examine the range and complexity of the human condition with an unbridled heart and sympathetic eye. The album features incredible musicians from all over the country, including producer/bassist Dan Conway (Modereko, Rita Coolidge, Zeugma), John Molo (Bruce Hornsby & the Range, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Other Ones, John Fogerty), Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band, Bob Weir’s RatDog, Phil Lesh & Friends, Donna & the Tricksters), JT Thomas (Bruce Hornsby Band, Jemima Puddleduck, Tracy Chapman, Captain Beefheart), LA session heavy Tim Kobza (Jon B., Modereko), and many others.

Bos Taurus

Hailing from Delaware (home to a few notable bands over the years, including Television and more recently, the Spinto Band), Steve Chesser rose to the top of his friends' iPod playlists in early 2007 with a handful of home-grown demos. Several months and lots of hard work later, Chesser completed work on a full-length album, titled It's Plain (released in late summer '08), and assembled a full band for live shows and future work.

Buddy Cottom

My Name is Buddy Cottom, I'm a 22 year old small town acoustic singer/songwriter. Iv been playing since i was about 12 and have about 60 or 70 original tunes that i play out frequently at bars, parties, or just out on the street. I've played from Bridge Street in Oswego NY straight over to Detroit and on down to Tennessee, i strummed Bourbon street until i had one string left and on over to Birmingham Alabama and down to Pensacola. I've been yelled at, cussed out, spit at and shit on for what iv done along the way but I'm proud of who i was and the decisions iv made to become who i am today. Just keep watchin' those charts ;) Budc3po - AIM & Yahoo

Bill Cave

Bill Cave borrows from a life experience that would make a great book but ended up in song. To find his way, he hit the road at 23 and has never looked back. Like “Into the Wild,” but with an alternate ending so is the life of SymplyBill. Storytelling is a passion, and it is a talent SymplyBill possesses. In one song you might find yourself somewhere in Texas burning up the highway, just a doin it to it, yet in another you’ll be floating through the snowy trees chasing a snow princess in upstate Vermont, and then you might be in the mountains of North Carolina standing in the rain crying out to your best friend. Most find at least one song, if not all, just hits home. Do you want music that moves heart and soul? It has to be written with heart experience…“Sound Experiment.”

Bern Kelly

“The Damage” the title, came to me while on tour somewhere in north Georgia. I knew not only would it make a good song title, but a great rock album title. The phrase “Before the damage sets in” echos the tone for the bulk of the songs… which find me visiting again with themes that frequent my writing: heartbreak, loss, deception, and unanswerable questions. It’s interesting to me that when presenting these ideas in the arena of country music, they fit right into the core of what classic country was built upon…”Your Cheatin Heart”, ”The Last Word in Lonesome is ME”, etc, etc. However, sounding these ideas again and again in the “rock” realm, can, at times, come off a little redundant with one angst driven song after another (ala the 90’s right?)
Well, last time i checked, I grew up in the 90’s. So with that said….this record apologizes for nothing.

Girls Guns & Glory

Girls, Guns & Glory formed in Scituate, Massachusetts in the winter of 2005 when former band-mates and high school friends, Ward Hayden (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) and Bruce Beagley (bass), teamed up to record Ward’s original compositions. They entered Noise in the Attic Studio and began work on the GG&G debut CD “Fireworks and Alcohol.” The success of that release fueled the formation of a 5-piece lineup that began to work the New England club scene in earnest. Their sophomore release, “Pretty Little Wrecking Ball”, in February of 2007, proved to be the catalyst in a break-out year for the band as they collected 2 Boston Phoenix awards, numerous articles in the press, and lots of radio play - culminating in a Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Americana Act of the Year”. The band solidified it’s lineup as a strong 4-piece featuring John Graham on drums and Colt Thompson on guitar.

Dakini

Dakini is a four-piece original rock band from Hegins, Pennsylvania. Together eleven years, their music reflects the trials they have gone through and the joys they share. Their style is unique. A combination of all genres of music, the energy Dakini emanates is moving and their lyrics are introspective, imaginative, and universal. The height of a Dakini show is the calimination of each member being taken into the sound, improvising off one another, and taking the listener on a powerful ride.

Break the Horse

Break The Horse has risen from the ashes of faltered heroes to have been smitten by the absurd. The music drowns itself in greys. Leaning towards the heavens and falling back to earth.

Dual guitars form walls of mysticism and noise, bass bleeding, titillating the senses while the drums wipe out any thoughts your mother had of the good ol' days. Words are melded into the these sonic textures as the horse that can't be broken is set free.

Ursula

Ursula were formed in August 2009. Brought together by the creative song writing of Chris and his drive to find like-minded musicians, Chris was soon joined by guitarist Matt whose percussive riff-based approach to music complemented Chris’ melodic style. Finding George as lead vocalist brought an end to the seemingly endless search for the perfect singer. His well controlled uniquely haunting voice an ideal contrast to the music created by Chris and Matt. Finally Annie was brought in for bass duties, her energy and funky influences bringing the bass alive in a way so many bands fail to be able to achieve.

Now all we need is an awesome drummer, one without another band! We’re currently seeking, so if you’re a fantastic drummer and love what we do, please get in touch!

Dee Dozier

"You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and you will not find that person anywhere." -Buddha

I write songs. I'm putting out an album sometime in DECEMBER (yes that date has annoyingly changed a bazillion times), It's a really different style that feels like folk, mixed with blues, mixed with solitude and a lil sarcasm. I live for Lucky Charms and cookie dough and poker. And I like to make music, that's it.

Stinging Nettles

John Huebner (Vocals/Guitar) has been recording and writing music since the early 90’s and in 2006, decided to start another band... He recruited Andrew Jacobs- formerly the frontman/songwriter for bands such as Element & Altercana. Dylan Labiak joined in April ‘09 to fill the spot left vacant by previous drummer Marshall Fischer. The band’s newest addition is Flyin Ryan - adding a lead guitar to the mix- something Stinging Nettles has not had since it’s very earliest days. Ryan is previously in the band “The Butchers”, but when they broke up, we snatched him up and have begun rehearsals with this new incarnation of the Stinging Nettles’ signature “Fuzz-Folk” sound! Stinging Nettles is now playing shows in support of their record “Tread Softly” which was recorded and mixed by Andrew Jacobs & John Huebner at their studio/rehearsal space in Lancaster, PA. Mastering was done by Garrett Haines (Tape Op/EQ magazine) at Treelady Studios in Pittsbugh, PA. The album is available at iTunes & CDBABY.COM

The Dropzines

The Dropzines’ singer/songwriter/guitarist, Shawn Stabley, has been composing and performing melody-intensive music since he was a teenager. From 1988 to 1991, Shawn wrote, sang and played bass for the NYC alternative rock group, The Dutch Provos. In ‘91, Shawn, along with fellow Dutch Provos’ guitarist, Tim Archer, founded The Most Sordid Pies. The Pies, as they became referred to by fans, recorded their debut LP, “Grit & Sunshine,” along side producers John Siket (Sonic Youth, Phish, Yo La Tengo) and Kramer (Shimmy Disc Records), utilizing legendary rock recording facilities, Bearsville and Power Station Studios. The gritty, yet euphonious acuity of “Grit & Sunshine” would, without a doubt, have gotten The Pies their ”just dessert” had its release not been suddenly halted by the bankruptcy of its label’s parent company, Power Station Records. Sadly, The Pies would not recover from the harsh turn of events, and “Grit & Sunshine” would never see its release date, as they disbanded in 1995... ..

Aaron Daniel Gaul

Aaron Daniel Gaul, known to many as ADG; is an accomplished singer/songwriter/musician. ADG has been writing music for 20 years, and has a solid 10 years of on-stage entertainment experience, which has taken him to venues in Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and most recently here in Pennsylvania. Mainly a local musician, he has performed in venues such as Dragonfly, Appalachian Brewing Company, Gullifty’s, Lancaster Dispensing Company, and the Giant Center. ADG’s solo acoustic guitar show is a bit more than the average acoustic artists ... he plays vintage and classic rock covers, along with alternative, progressive, pop and modern rock, blues, reggae, country, funk, jam, new age, folk, bluegrass, latin, and jazz, as well as a variety of original music. The exceptional part of this one man show is; aided by phrase sampling/looping technology, he is able to layer rhythm, melody and harmony to produce a unique and original live sound, which always seems to capture the listener's attention and simply captivate them.

Dorian Motion

"Named after the Dorian Greeks, the Dorian mode is one of the seven modes of modern music. The Dorian mode is equivalent to the natural minor scale but with the sixth degree raised a semi-tone ..."

Defying strict categories, Dorian Motion is an eclectic band from the Ambler, PA area. Song styles range from hard-edged rock ballads, to upbeat quirky tunes, to steamy torch songs-and each member contributes to the original songs the band plays.
Dorian started in 2007, when guitarists Jay Mitlas and Thom McGowan got together with drummer Ray Tag to revisit some older material from a previous musical life. With the addition of Mark Betterly on bass in 2008, a new sound began to emerge, and the band embarked on the search for a singer. Christine Hough was recruited to sing lead in May of 2009,
and the band's sound was rounded out with the acoustic guitar, vocals and writing talents of Janine Kelly later that summer. Still in its infancy, the band's tight sound, musicianship and enthusiastic following have propelled them onto the local music scene.

Rod Goelz and Hum of One

Hum Of One is the musical offspring of Rod Goelz. He speaks in third person because he thinks it makes him sound important. It’s his wish to have an outlet for his original music… in all its varied forms. He’s not really a solo artist, that's not his natural fit. Hum Of One is his wish to share his music with anyone who’ll listen, tell the stories of how and why song was written, and offer the personal views of music and what it means to him. The hum of one man’s musical voice: Rod Goelz.

He returned to central Pennsylvania after nearly 7 great years down south, and continues to try to create meaningful, well crafted music with other like minded people. He is currently the drummer with several regional acts; Adam Taylor from Lancaster, Eureka Birds from Baltimore, and the Parallax Project from Harrisburg, in addition to writing and producing for and with other artists.

Neanderpaul

Live looping is my claim to fame. I play guitar, bass, piano, drums, etc. all live, layering instruments and vocals. Diversity is one of the things I pride myself on. I have been influenced by everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Fugazi, from The Ramones to The Everly brothers, From the Beatles to The Beastie Boys, from Jerry Reed to Ween. All of these influences combine and effect me on a creative level. That diversity shows up in all of my styles. I write, perform, and record A Capella, rocking instrumentals, pure pop, heavy rock, rhythm and blues, moody spoken word, and the ocassional love song. I started my musical life singing in the Church of Christ. The Church's A Capella singing lends itself to driving home an understanding of harmonies that I have carried with me my whole life. I was asked to sing in several bands as a teenager. All were a blast. Most never made it out of the basement.

Ryan Peters

A native Pennsylvanian, Peters grew up in a small suburban town on the outskirts of York. He spent time listening to his parents’ records, which included the sounds of Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, and Fleetwood Mac. During his high school years the influences of Live Radiohead, Sting and the Police, and U2 began to take root. While he attended East Stroudsburg University, this self-taught musician began to develop his own unique style. This is clearly evident in his recent recording of The Game. Following graduation, Peters moved to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. The tropical paradise inspired to further explore his musical development. He performed at various venues including, Hard Rock Café and Sunset on the Beach, whose alumni consist of Elliot Smith and Jack Johnson. Later, Peters decided to push his musical boundaries and moved to Nashville, TN, where he finished his solo ep entitled Uprooted. He now resides in Annapolis, MD where he continues to write songs and move audiences.

Parker Virtue

My name is Rachel. True, I grew up in a log cabin on Mostly Woods Farm- but don't you dare think for even one moment I'm going to play Dueling Banjos for you. Oh, the sadness! I know. I've been playing for about a year now, and finally I feel as if I am beginning to find my voice. Not only vocally, but poetically. Lyrically. Also through the instruments I play. It's fascinating, really, how much one can grow musically each day. I feel as though I am, at last, giving to you my true perceptions on life. Let me give to you a little taste of what this is supposed to be. I am in love with music, and no matter which form it may take- trust me, I'm pretty open minded about it- I believe it is truly my favorite way of expressing how I see the world. The world through my eyes. Concepts, people, places... through MY senses. I am a hopeless romantic, and if you cannot handle love songs, you should probably head for the door. I hope you enjoy what I have enjoyed making. Cheers!

Jamie Lynn Noon

“I want to run to the edge/Throw caution to the wind/Part of life is risking it all.”

With that powerful chorus from the driving “Second of a Spark,” multi-talented singer-songwriter Jamie Lynn Noon announces her stunning arrival with her debut EP, A Moment to Break. The 22-year-old California Bay Area native, who cannot recall a time when music was not a part of her life, is in line with contemporaries like Chantal Kreviazuk, Chrissie Hynde and Linda Perry – a gifted artist in her own right, yet one whose songs are natural fits for other prominent performers. And with A Moment to Break (to be released January 27, 2009 on Internet digital download retail sites worldwide), Jamie showcases the best of her vast catalogue of hook-laden, irresistibly catchy songs.

Jack Curry

Jack Curry is a lifelong musician. He attended Lancaster conservatory when he was ten years old until about the age of fourteen. At the age of twenty-two he began writing his own material. This led him to NYC for six years where he honed his playing and writing skills. In 1987 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he met the Father of Bluegrass,"Bill Monroe",hence the song "Wheredya Go Bill Monroe. He also became friends with Bluegrass legend "Doug Dillard." He spent 5 years with his band "Pocket Fulla Groove" and secured a publishing and recording contract with Punch Records. This Indie label never produced anything viable for jack but it was a great learning experience. Jack now resides in York, Pa. He has just finished his CD, Diggin up Roots. Jack also has an R&B side to his vocals and writing. He also, had an album with Pocket Fulla Groove which will be available at a later date. Jack's effort with Diggin up Roots is just one side of his musical ability.

Shane Speal

Speal's music runs the gamut; from old blues to trash rock and out into the stratosphere of avant garde. His newest album, "Shane Speal" has touches of White Stripes, Pops Staples and old school punk. There's even an instrumental, "Tunnel Rat," that has been described as Joe Satriani on moonshine!

Alien Zoo

Sydney Austratlia

Sam left London taking his purple hat but leaving a yellow guitar and seven songs. I'm not sure exactly what happened to the goblin that we had demanded sandwiches from, but Manfred's out of tune upright is still connected to the moon. Bobby Z

VooDoo Pharmacology

Voodoo Pharmacology consists of six multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, working together to craft music of various genres, reflective of our own eclectic interests. The band plays everything from bluegrass to metal, jazz to psychedelia, soundscapes to world music, classical to blues, and cross pollinate along the way. It is our belief that this is indicative of a new time, in which innovations such as satellite radio and the ipod give more people greater access to different types of music. We ultimately hope to create as close to a full sensory experience as possible, utilizing light videos, animations, and theatrical elements during live performances.

American Gothic Me

First I wrote lyrics or poetry.then I started forming melodys to snare them.. I then picked up a little guitar and began to find a voice,I figured on being some sort of crooner.then I jammed that harmonica in my mouth, and practiced quite often. It took some time to come together,as past neighbors would willfully recall! Songs range from catchy upbeat rock to dark soulful ballads.

Guy Partin and the Guy Partin Project - GPG

I was raised by musician parents and performed in their band from 14 until I graduated Upper Darby high school right out side of Philadelphia. I have performed many kinds of music and am grateful to my Mom and Dad for exposing me to so many great bands and artists growing up. My writing is a reflection of so many influences that I think my own sound evolved from them. I have performed up and down the eastern seaboard, playing full time for almost 15 years before moving to Central Pa to settle down a bit.. A couple bands I recently performed in around the Central PA area are MidLife Krisis and GrayWolf, as well as fill in spots for Eugene Marks Band (good luck Mark jr.) and Turning Point. I am at present a solo artist, but am slowly auditioning musicians for a new project I hope to launch in the fall. Although we will be playing cover material, my originals will be in regular rotation with a new studio date booked in early 2010 at Right Coast studios in Lemoyne, PA.
